S.M. Kulkarni completed his post graduation in Industrial Design from National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad in 1984, after which he went on to work on various design development projects. The exhibition was concerned with the idea of seeking a new direction for Indian Craft in its application and its marketability.

With over 25 years of experience in global design education and practice, Prof Vijai Singh Katiyar has contributed to Design Education, Research, Practice and Promotion. He is the Chair of Research & Publications at NID. He has initiated India’s first practice-led PhD Program in design. He has also been on the Government Council and continues on Academic and Policy Planning Bodies of the institute. His publications include two major books - Design Education; Tradition and Modernity, and Indian Saris: Traditions-Perspectives-Design.

Rupert Avis is a third year Music PhD student at the University of York, funded by the AHRC. He has performed in the UK and India, both as a cellist and piano accompanist, and has taught cello, piano and guitar for over 10 years, guiding students successfully through music college auditions.
